Realtime Architectural Visualization with Unity3D

[UPDATE: We have now published an eBook about Architectural Visualization with Unity3D (including a chapter about Oculus Rift) that can be purchased HERE.]

I’ve been swamped these past few weeks with a variety of projects in Unity3D, Second Life, and OpenSim – (with some open houses and beta releases just around the corner!) – and have published a few updates on my  freelance site HERE, but I haven’t had the time to write many blog posts lately.  I’ve got quite a bit to write about in the months ahead – but in the meantime, I wanted to share this list I’ve been compiling of videos, demos and links from within the Unity community that really showcase the potential for Unity3D game development engine for realtime architectural illustration.

I’ll be posting some tutorials and scripts soon that will help get you started, but in the meantime – these videos and links speak for themselves. If you know of any additional archviz work done on Unity, please link them in comments!

To get started with Unity, download it for free on their website: http://unity3d.com/

Examples of using CityEngine and Unity: “Unlike other game engines, Unity supports a number of input formats, allowing for direct integration with the CityEngine with the following features: Direct model export to Unity via Autodesk FBX including textures – thus, generate’n'play your environment with a few clicks only.”

    Nice post and work Jon!

  2. Keystone says:

Awesome Alex! I added it. Thanks!

    Thanks Damon!

  3. Greg Howes says:

Great work and compelling examples. I look forward to seeing more individual buildings as well as entire communities and more integrated interactivity. Now for the hard work of integrating real-time modeling with real world building.

  4. Keystone says:

Thanks Greg! You’re absolutely right – integration with the built environment is the next level, and surely holds the greatest potential for transformative impact and radical innovation.

  5. Pedric says:

Great post, it’s wonderful to see the different projects.
