New ThinkBalm analyst report: Crossing the Chasm, One Implementation at a Time

23 September 2009 No Comment

For all of you early adopters out there, this new report from ThinkBalm is definitely worth a read.  If rich, immersive, 3D, virtual environments

“The core question we set out to answer is, “How are early adopters overcoming barriers to adoption of immersive technology in the workplace?” To build upon the research we conducted for the ThinkBalm Immersive Internet Business Value Study, Q2 2009, in August of 2009 we conducted in-depth interviews with 16 highly-qualified Immersive Internet advocates and implementers who work for organizations like AT KearneyBlended SolutionsCity of Geneva (Illinois, USA), e426.orggroupVision AGIBMMicrosoftPreferred Family HealthcareSAICSan Diego State University, The Coaches Center, The MaidsUniversity of Denver, and World2Worlds, along with some that wished not to be named.”

A maxping post on the report pulls out this interesting quote as well:  Ninety five percent of survey respondents (62 of 66) reported some level of success with their 2008 / 1Q 2009 immersive technology deployments. People who worked for government, non-profits and even some corporations focused on non-financial benefits, which sometimes makes quantification of that success difficult. Regardless, over a third of those surveyed (36%, or 23 of 64) said their organization will definitely expand investment in immersive technology in 2009 and 2010, and another 38% (24 of 64) indicated that they might expand their investment.”
