I wish I had more time to write out a more extensive review of the Rift, but here are my first impressions:
You absolutely feel as if you are transported to another place, to the point where it’s almost scary.
During the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of working with Gronstedt Group and their clients at Avaya on a variety of immersive learning, training and workplace environments. Projects included 2 full campus areas, complete with libraries, auditoriums, office spaces and training rooms. These projects were realized using Avaya’s own AvayaLive Engage multi-user platform.
I am very excited to announce the launch of our new Arch Tech Engine (intro video above), a technology that transforms buildings, cities and geography into realtime 3D environments that are easily accessible, and can be embedded on your website, or deployed to a tablet.
If there was ever any doubt that virtual worlds have a place in architectural practice and education, this month’s special issue of ITcon presents a staggering amount of content that is sure to help promote the use of virtual worlds and game engines within AEC industries and beyond. The Journal of Information Technology in Construction (ITcon) is a peer-reviewed scholarly publication recently published a special issue dedicated to the use of virtual world technology in architecture, civil engineering and facility management.
